About Alice©
Alice© is about the inner life of a maturing single woman as she struggles to survive in an unsure world.
Alice Cartoons© is a creation of Andrea Beizer, a Philadelphia based artist, cartoonist, architect and college professor. The strip originally made a monthly appearance during the mid-1980’s in the Philadelphia Architect, a local publication of the American Institute of Architects, and Manhattan Comic News in 1989.
At the encouragement of friends and colleagues, and especially Tony Auth, Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, the strip was brought back to life during the summer of 2013.
Alice© has been revised to show a more contemporary style. Alice the character is older than the original 1980’s version, and the drawing style simplified. Alice© is created using ink on Mylar.

How Alice Got Her Name
People often ask me how I came up with the name “Alice” for my cartoon strip. When I was in Kindergarten at J. Hampton Moore Elementary in Philadelphia during the school year 1961-62, I was friendly with a very sweet little girl named Alice. It was at a visit to her home, that I discovered the wonderful books by Dr. Seuss which made a huge impression on me. After my kindergarten year, I never saw Alice again, but always retained fond memories of her. In the class picture, Alice is seated in the 2nd row, 3rd from the left; I am standing in the 4th row, 4th from left.
